I’m Jack Kosowsky, a photographer based in Central New Jersey. As I’ve gotten older, my relationship with photography has changed. What began as a way of documenting what I saw has become a more personal and creative way of interpreting it. Photography has become my life’s passion, a place where observation, patience, and curiosity can lead to images that carry both feeling and meaning.
My work has taken me from the quiet, patient world of wildlife photography to the energy and unpredictability of New York City. Though the subjects are very different, both have taught me the same thing: there are great photographs everywhere if you take the time to truly see them. Light, color, shadow, gesture, expression, and the relationships between people all become part of the story.
With Moments in Chaos, I am drawn to the contrast between New York’s constant motion and the individual lives unfolding within it. I work candidly, wandering, watching, and responding to what the city gives me. No one is asked to pause or perform. The photographs are observed moments—real people moving through their own day, each with a purpose, a presence, and a story beyond the frame.
More than anything, photography has taught me to pay closer attention. It has changed the way I experience the world and helped me find meaning in places and moments that might otherwise pass unnoticed.
